Yes and yes. I was biking in Colorado, around Copper Mountain?, and we went on a 5 mile downhill trail..... at the end, we didnt really feeling like biking uphill 5 miles, so we stood on the side of the road for a few minutes, and a guy with a pickup stopped and gave us a ride back:)

It was during a summer family vacation, and some guy needed to go a few miles down the road to meet with some of his friends to go kayaking or biking or something, was a long time ago. So he hopped in the car and after a few miles we let him off:)

Not all hitchhikers are serial killers:confused:

Yes and yes. Hitchhiking is pretty popular around here. Although I have only done it going down to the beach.

Used to hitchhike back in the 70's, don't anymore unless absolutely necessary. Used to pick up hitchhikers too, but there are way too many loonies and 'extremists' out there these days. How would you know who was safe to pick up? -kd5-

I've hitchiked hundreds of miles with my friend Corey, mainly when we were hiking the PCT in order to get to and from towns (from the trailheads). Each time, we were prepared for the worst, but never had to deal with it.

I've never hitchhiked, but one time I was rolling a wheel down the freeway to find a gas station and get it patched and a guy offered me a ride. I didn't turn it down.

i hitchhiked last summer with two of my friends...we had just hiked 5 miles and didn't feel like walking back up the mountain...so after a few unsuccessful attempts at sticking our thumbs out this 16 or 17-year-old girl picked us up. she drove us up the mountain at an average speed of 50 mph, sharp curves notwithstanding. it took us about 3 minutes to figure out she was stoned. :Q

Hmmm, yeah I'd pick up a hitch-hiker if it were a she and she was hot. I'd never hitch-hike myself unless I really had too. Btw... anyone ever heard of the Bang Bus? :)

It's too dangerous these days...I don't hitchhike or pick up hitchhikers.

My uncle who has some hippy tendencies was hitchhhiking once during the 70s and said he was once picked up by a dude driving a Beetle with no steering wheel. The dude had a monkey wrench where the steering wheel was and was using that to steer the car!

If you're a hitchhiker, you should definitely not ride with Vogons. You should also keep a Babelfish on hand (or preferably in-head) to avoid any poor translations on your part. This is especially true when hitchhiking in foreign countries. If you meet anyone named Marvin, kill him.

Nope and nope. Unless they were hot.

Don't you have to draw a line at their hotness? I mean.... If they are SO hot, isn't it suspicious that they'd be hitchhiking in the first place?

true story-
my friend and his dad used to canoe down in louisiana and hitch-hike back to their car then drive back and get the canoe...one guy picked them up in a pick-up truck once
his dad- So where u comin' from
driver- (name of state penitinory that was down the road a bit)
his dad- y where u there?
driver- Cut my wife
his dad- where are u going?
driver- to see my wife
silence the rest of the trip
then the driver passed where they were supposed to be dropped off...luckily it was just a mistake and when they pointed it out the driver stopped.

About the same for me, haven't done it since I was 20.

You know, I'll say it's been years since I saw someone with their thumb stuck out looking to get picked up.
