Hitachi Deskstar 7K4000

Where do I get a new Hitachi Deskstar 7K4000 4 GB hard drive ? I found them on amazon but they are not sold by Amazon. I checked Newegg.

Why is the Hitachi Deskstar 7K4000 so difficult to find ? Storagereview says it is one of the fastest 7200 rpm IDE Hard Drives. So yes I want the Hitachi Deskstar 7K4000.

Instead of the Deskstar 7K4000 you might want to get the Ultrastar 7K4000 instead. It has a 5 year warranty and is made for 24x7 use. I got a Deskstar 7K3000 two years ago, and it started to give SMART errors earlier this month. Hitachi had to send me another drive, but it only came with a 3 year warranty. They said the Ultrastar models are made to last longer.

I just bought an HGST 4G Deskstar at B&H Photo. B&H is a good place to buy stuff, I've been buying from them for many years, never an issue.

Ouch, they are $35+ pricier than the Seagate 4TB drives. Performance is obviously faster and the warranty longer than the Seagate, but I just need big storage, not speed.

Last year I I stalled two Seagate 4GB drives I ordered from NewEgg and within a week both were making loud clicking noises and stopped being seen by the BIOS or Windows. Ended up returning them.
