On my Amilo A 1630 (Athlon64 + 9700 = Bliss!) the 7k60' has virtually the same battery life of just under 3hrs.

HUGE HUGE HUGE difference in performance, and runs cooler than the Fujisu 4200RPM drive to boot! Well worth the buy.

YES, BIG performance increase. My old drive was a 60GB 5400RPM, this one is a 60GB 7200RPM. XP load time is like 30-50% of what it was.


No heat difference, and its a lot quieter.

Blamo: You sure the 100GB is out? And that its 7200rpm? I did a google search and didn't see that anywhere. I did see a 100GB 5400rpm, but not 7200rpm.

Um I assure you the load time had little to do with the spin rate.
Your windows load time depends on how much that needs to be loaded up. Do a clean install of windows, then see how long it takes to load up, then wait a year and time again, big difference.

I have a 6GB 5400RPM ATA/33 drive I use for backup and my regular 320GB RAID for regular usage, and windows loads WAY faster on the 6GB 5400RPM(the loading bar only moves by once!) drive, simply because there's nothing on it!

You're probably talking about the Seagate 100GB 7200rpm drive right?

Supposedly that box was mislabeled and is really only a 5400rpm drive.... the 7200rpm 100gb isn't due until late 2004 or early 2005.
 
I have a 7200 RPM drive in my Dell 5150 (work laptop), I love it.

Previously had the same system with a 5400, the 7200 is MUCH quicker.

Explain to me why it's quicker to boot with a WD Raptor 74gb than a WD SE 80gb 7200rpm than a WD 80gb 5400rpm with a clean install of windows on all, all on the same computer.

The faster you can spin the drive, the faster you can read all those little 0s and 1s.
