hey where can i get one of these and do you think i can replace it on my laptop (Acer Aspire 2000)?

I've been looking all over for it, and can't find anything cheaper than $250 for one.

C'mon now. How can we possibly know this? You have told us squat about what you do with your laptop.

mostly gaming, bit torrent, internet stuff, and office apps.

has anyone else thought about upgrading to one?

heh, the cheapest one is $235 from Mwave.com, but it is out of stock. 🙁
i suggest you buy the $250 one before it is out of stock. its a good price considering some places sell it for $300+

what are your heat comparisons between the hitachi and what you had before? Any hotter? No difference?
I put one in my T40: much faster than the 4200RPM in there before. The palm rest gets slightly warmer under heavy file transfers, but the noise level is about the same as before.

If you plan on owning the notebook for longer than 3 years. I think the 7200 rpm drive will be worth the current price. As far as resale value is concerned. That drive WILL depreciate very much if someone else enters the 7200 rpm mobile drive race (Fujitsu maybe?).

It is rumored that Toshiba is about to launch a line of 7200 rpm notebook hard drives with model numbers MKxxxxGAY and capacities up to 80GB.

These are already selling in Japan. 😉

because of the model number ending in GAY and ur wink emoticon i can't tell if you are joking or not. Does anybody have a link? I will hold off getting the 7K60 if there are more 7200rpm laptop HD"s coming out soon

I think the rumor is true but I don't think we can see it soon outside Japan.

I would love to go on Toshiba one if they already sell it outside Japan

I wasn't joking, but the reason I presented it as a rumor rather than as fact is because I have not been able to confirm it with a link.

any links to that 80gb toshiba 7200rpm model. I was wonderin if anyone knows when hitachi will come out with a 80gb 7200 model also.

speaking of the hitachi 7k60 what is going on? Its not for sale/backordered on most of the place I would buy from: newegg, mwave, zipzoomfly

I want'ed to get myself one for xmas but I can't find it in stock at comapnies that I usually deal with.
