Hit and run :(

A little while ago, I parked on a sidestreet to meet up with some friends, and when I returned... I saw this. Somebody had attempted to squeeze in (parallel park) behind me, and apparently it didn't work... resulting in the damage pictured below. No note, no nothing. I DETEST hit and run's... a few scrapes and bumps via hit and run have happened to me before, but nothing this bad.

How much damage do you think there is, and would it be worth it to fix/report it to the insurance company? My deductible is high, so I don't think that would help at all.

To make matters worse, the "maintanence required" light came on after the accident. I'll have it checked out at a dealership soon.

Ugh.

My poor cracked car 🙁

that is messed up.
somebody did the exact same to my front bumper about a month ago - there is like a black patch on the silver paint - still waiting to get it fixed. most probably will have to replace the bumper. sucks.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear that. If the bumper is cracked it will have to be replaced. If you need a new bumper your looking at a few hundred not counting the paint job, About $400-$500 in damage. If its not cracked they can sand it down and re paint it $150-$200

By the topic title I thought you meant a person getting hit!

Look at it this way, at least it is only a car and not you. Still sucks though.

500 would be too low for me to file anything with insurance (500 deductible).

btw, those pictures are huge

edited: WOW, now that i think about it - that d1ckhead hit your car and now b/c he was a goddamn pu$sy and ran away, you have to pay 500 to fix your car. what a fvckface!!! my blood pressure just increased 10 fold.

No kidding. :| I don't even have the cash for a paint job right now, much less a cracked bumper... so it looks like I'll be driving around banged up like this. 🙁 Sorry about the big pictures, I don't have image resizing software on my comp here at work.

new rear bumper for teh new honda civics can be had for around $100 to $250 depending if you want oem or not...

if it were me, and the bumper wasn't cracked all the way throuh, i'd wet sand it all even and just have it repainted. or leave it, cause if you get it fixed and it happens again, you'll be madder than before.

While it does suck, that just looks like some epoxy and buff out and good to go, wouldn't fret over it.

Lucky it wasn't worse for a Hit & Run.

Yes, very true. Better my car than myself or a person/animal.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try epoxy/attempting to buff it out. I don't think I can do much about the chipping or crack/detachment, but something is better than nothing. At least it still runs...

that definitely isnt bad. the marks could come off pretty easy for the most part, and who cares about a few little scratches?

You just don't fvck with another man's automobile. You just don't. I wish I could've cought the m0therfvcker. It would have almost been worth it for him to have done it for me to have caught him.

Technically, isn't this a Hit and Skip. Hit & Run is when you injure someone, isn't it? Either way, that sucks man.

Isn't that just two ways of saying the same thing?

I thought there was a slight difference, but not really sure.
