Oh, pity poor Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Since he feels Black History has no educational value, maybe he oughta skip the Super Bowl. Because this year's contest boasts two Black quarterbacks and this fact may be mentioned a few times.

It's History being made.

Thank you, Doug Williams for winning Super Bowl 22. Thirty five years ago, Williams threw for 340 yards and four TD's as his beloved patriot's destroyed the Denver Broncos 42-10.

So, no matter what happens today at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., Black History will be able to notch another Black SB winning quarterback.

DeSantis may need a hug.

I don't follow any political people on Facebook but in the sports news articles that mentioned first time two black quarterbacks in a super bowl, let me tell you there are a whole bunch of butthurt racist conservatives really upset that the media is even mentioning that because we live in a totally post-racial society, to mention it is what's really dividing us. These are today's racists folks

Didn't Doug Williams play for the Redskins?

Yes, he did. He was the first Black QB to win a Super Bowl. He threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns as the Redskins clobbered the Denver Broncos 42-10.

The history that was made today is for the first times, two Black QBs were in the big game.

Thirty five years ago, many questioned whether a Black man was intelligent enough to play quarterback. Even racists acknowledged the athletic abilities of Black players. But not our brains.

Doug Williams ended that nonsense with his play in Super Bowl 22.

I thank Boomer for hilariously pointing out my error in the yardage for Williams.

Why would Russell Wilson want a word with me? Nothing I said is untrue.

Unfortunately, I don't think that nonsense belief really ended until Michael Vick and Cam Newton. Since then there has been a steady stream of black quarterbacks. But I remember people saying blacks weren't smart enough to be QBs in the 90s.

For years a lot of black qb's lost many many opportunities until not that long ago as you point out. Any good black qb was converted to another position when they started to make it big heading into big time college ball. Now all the racists are pissed because saying two black QB's in a SB is a big deal rubs them the wrong way. Fucking racists are easy to spot.

Zorba, I know what you are saying. But I remember the feature stories in Newsweek and Time magazines entitled "The Growing Black Dominance in Pro Sports." The stories concentrated on thigh and calf musculature of Black pro athletes.

This is why when the Redskins were poised to play the Broncos in Supe 22, most reporters bought into the myth of Blacks not having the intelligence to QB a pro team and asked Williams some ridiculous questions. But he managed to remain patient.

Doug Williams is the one who smashed that canard to bits. We Black people know who did this and ignored claims that others did it. Marlin Briscoe was the first Black QB to start for a NFL team. He played for the Broncos.

It was not until a Black quarterback won a Super Bowl that those questions about Black intelligence subsided.

Er, it didn't end with either of those either. Hell, I think Cam had articles questioning his intelligence (with them going about it via fashion or other means and no so direct) not long before Mahomes basically blew all the racist dickhead comments off. And Vick for sure did, that was partly why the situation about his suspension and other was so contentious.

Which there have been black QBs that didn't seem to get questioned about it, but there definitely sure seems to have been doubt. Cunningham, Moon, I don't know if they had to field intelligence questions but I know they also didn't have it easy.

Sadly, I don't think that has gone away entirely. I know people made claims about Kaepernick. And there's been some gross questions asked of black players and QBs especially. Hell the Colts owner made a big spectacle of apologizing after he said Lamarr Jackson should move to WR. Far too much of that type of shit still goes on. Black QBs are running qbs and therefore not "true" QBs, or other implications, like they should change positions.

Talking about that cost Jimmy the Greek his broadcasting career...

The black is a better athlete to begin with, because he's been bred to be that way. Because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back. And they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs. And he's bred to be the better athlete because this goes back all the way to the Civil War, when, during the slave trading, the big, the owner, the slave owner would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have uh big black kid, see. That's where it all started!

I completely agree the racism hasn't ever gone away. I was thinking the barrier in the NFL started to really go away after those two. It seems like they have been a steady stream of black QBs since those two, while I at least don't remember that before Vick.
