This is the first I have seen it.

It's basically Pop-Up Video about events in history, with background rock music.

Just on was the Munich Olympics terrorist event and the history of Atari and Bushnell.
The Atari song was "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" and I forget the Munich song.

It seems to all be classic rock though.
I like it!

I liked the Nixon Watergate scandal thing that was on a little while ago. Pretty funny - "He went to Harvard too!" "He taught at Yale."

Used to like History Channel but they have gone downhill with stuff like this. I think it started with R Lee Erney and has steadily digressed. History International is still good a majority of the time.

What are you talking about?

Mail Call was one of the shows that brought the History Channel out of the dumps.

Modern Marvels, singlehandedly, gets me to watch daily.

I like History International, but it is all 1980s documentaries and the commentary is quite boring. (I still watch it because I love history though)

I guess I like 1980's documentaries and boring commentary more than I like an obnoxious host or a history channel/vh1 fusion. I don't want my history to be poppy. I enjoy sitting and watching a good "boring" documentary with a "boring" commentator. Then again I can't stand to watch anything else on television other than the occasional PBS documentary or sometimes the Food Network. This is why I don't have cable/satellite. Just some rabbit ears.

I'm gonna bump this thread because I killed it which wasn't nice of me and I want to hear if I'm the only one who hates what the history channel and kids in general have become.

It would be nice if it was a real history channel instead of a channel that has so many shows that are not primarily about History: that Canadian ice trucking show, 5 gajillion shows on monsters (bigfoot! aliens!!!!), people traveling around the world documenting fighting techniques, etc.

Yes

I'd like to see more history stuff again

More shows like
Mysteries of the Ancient World
the Underworld one, kinda new. Dunno the name
Single Standing Documentaries (Like the Andrew Jackson one recently)
Miniseries documentaries, like the one they replayed today (on the US revolution)
and I agree with UglyCasanova, need to ring back some of the old documentaries

Edit: I'd like to see a documentary on Henry Clay, like the Jackson one

Even Modern Marvels and Mail Call is good
compared to some of the stuff they're coming out with now

Still some gems though, enough to keep me watching
