History Channel showing CPU Innovation

What's the name of the show? On my cable listing the closest show on The History Channel airing tonight would be Modern Marvels: New and exciting gadgets of the 1980s.

they talked about MRAM one time basically it would elimanate a PC's boot up process

so u push power button and it goes BAM! on almost instantly

(Magnetic RAM)-RAM that keeps its data when the PC is turned off-current RAM loses it after powering down)

Long ago that's how it was when computers used ferrite core memory. You only had to reboot when you had a crash. When ram came in it was immediately 1/10th the price, used 1/20th the space, and used less power so it became popular quickly.

with the hybrid HDD's that Samsung introduced, i imagine the boot time is much shorter. probablly similar to a bootup from an i-ram drive.

MS wants those hybrid drives to become the new standard for just that reason.
