History Channel denies show’s Satan character resembles Obama

The History Channel miniseries “The Bible” has been generating heavenly ratings, with more than 14 million viewers tuning in to its debut episode. But the show generated some controversy with its Sunday night episode in which the character playing Satan made his debut. The controversy was not over anything happening on screen, but rather whether or not the actor playing Satan looks a little too much like President Barack Obama.

I have really no opinion on this other than finding it slightly amusing, just linking image to be helpful.

Those who believe in the fairy tale character already believe Obama is Satan. Those of us with common sense aren't invested in a loltastic cultural reification that doesn't even bear any resemblance to anything in the supposed source material.

Fundies are utterly retarded.

So, then, who's complaining?

They look the same to me. Satan just looks a bit older and more worldly.

"Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith"

The title of the article is "History Channel denies show’s Satan character resembles Obama", which was copied verbatim by the OP which would make the writer of the article, not dmcowen674, in error. You have pointed out any discrepancies below.

So repeating a lie is fine, thanks for the info.

The Thread Title is a lie, the History Channel did not say what the OP claims they said. Here is what was said in the very link provided by the OP:

“The Bible” executive producer, Roma Downey, also released a statement saying she and fellow producer Mark Burnett made no conscious effort to cast an actor resembling the president.

More info from the OP's link:

Even Beck has tried to brush off any hidden agendas, posting that his original tweet was a joke: “Media—relax. Actor has been in similar roles b4. Funny, nothing more. For different reasons, #TheBible is 1 of my fav shows. Keep watching”

Other info:
In a joint statement Monday, Both Burnett and Downey vehemently denied that any similarity was intentional. “This is utter nonsense,” the couple said. “The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics, including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our president.”
History, too, came out swinging with its own statement: “History Channel has the highest respect for President Obama,” the network said. “The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. History’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”

Where's that tolerance hiding that leftists are so proud of possessing? You know, the propensity to allow others to have varied and differing viewpoints?

Tolerance is what liberals say as a method to hide their intolerance.

So what even if they did specifically cast him? Doesn't make a lick of difference.

The guy in the left looks more like a Sith Lord than Satan...

Let me know when President Obama shows up at the Senate, screams something about "Ultimate Powa", and then fries a couple of people with Force Lightning and then Force throws the "entire Senate" at Sen. Mitch McConnell

I'm willing to bet that this series portrays Jesus as some lily-white individual when it's more likely he'd have a skin tone closer to the guy who's portraying Satan.
