History Buffs: I need a little help

Can someone explain to me how the agricultural crisis that sharecropping was a part of helped lead to Populism? I have a test tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to and this is one of the questions on the study guide. Any tips, hints, explanations would be great. If only history were a science.

You are absolutely right it should be in the class notes, unfortunately I have a writing disability and a note taker whom am about to beat and replace. Worst notes ever.....the teacher's own powerpoint outlines provide more information. I mean seriously how to you put 10hrs worth of notes on 2 pages size 12 font. Anyway rant off. Back to the book...
