I dont watch tv often. im still using a 25" crt tv from last century.
I'm thinking of buying this to watch the Olympics with rabbit ears.

What do you think of it for that price?

Thats a horrible brand. I think at this point in time you should not bother getting a TV unless its quality.
Or you have idiot children you cant trust.

I agree with shorty! Either will be magnitudes better than your 25" though.

what tv for 340 would you recomend then? hisense is a fine brand and you get what you pay for. i see a 55" r8f with
Full array backlight w/ 56 local dimming zones
4 HDMI 2.0
1 USB
10w Uninspiring speakers
on slickdeals it shows 399. it is what i would shoot for. (but im always a sucker for saying ... just a little bit more will buy you...) but for 340/399 you wont find a ton of options @ 55"

colors look good after adjust, 4k looks good, no ads, just has a bad response time.

SO what tv do you use and what tv do you recommend shorty?

i was going to buy this Hisense 50" 4k for $370 because it's supposed to have great viewing angles. (ie: if you sit a little off to the side)

then i read the review:

Different size TV's of the same model (A6G) comes with different screens. WTF?!

some have IPS screens (which is great for viewing angles and what i want) and others have VA (which is good if you watch in the dark because this model doesnt have local dimming)

the 50" is a VA screen :(

True, but they have so much better picture quality. I get that the bottom line can be the deciding factor though.
I look at it a different way, personally am not that picky about picture quality but when you get the cheap 3rd tier brands, they tend to have low quality capacitors and often lifespan suffers (sometimes a LOT), so on a tight budget I would drop down in size to get a basic Samsung, before a Hisense, if buying and using TVs so infrequently that I was still using a 25" CRT.

maybe you are talking about the 60" for 370?
Slickdeals: Searching for "hisense"

i would shoot for the r8f for 380 55"?
Hisense H8F Review (50H8F, 55H8F, 65H8F) - RTINGS.com

movies and HDR movies are decent for a budget tv. not sure what the intended use is for the TV, wish i played games!

yeah, this post about different type of screens depending on tv size is what made me rethink the A6G:

i would have loved the r8f but it's been sold out at that price for a long time.
it went on sale at costco for $400 back in May.
