So if you had an AGP system , and not ready to do a total system upgrade yet. Would you think that would be the last video card I'll need until I upgrade to a PCI-e board?

I think the price on that card is a little steep. Look at ZZF, which has it for $430 shipped. The HIS might have a nice heatsink on there, but $30 for a VF700 paired with the card from ZZF will cost less, and you'll have an even better heatsink.

You mentioned that you like ATI, but I did want to mention an Nvidia option because of the price difference. The 7800GS is only $307 shipped and pretty close to the performance of the x850xt pe. Here's AT's review on the 7800GS if you want to check it out. Keep in mind that those tests are run at stock speeds, and the XFX comes overclocked from 375/1.2 to 440/1.3, which makes the two cards even closer in performance while still being separated by $123 in price.

I'm amazed at ATI's reduction in warranty coverage to only 1 yr. That's a lot to pay for a video card with such a short warranty. Granted, most manufacturers defects SHOULD pop up within that first year, but some things seem to wait until a week or a month AFTER the warranty expires to go poof...I'd be hesitant to buy a card with less than a 3 yr warranty.
