Well, I got no luck posting about this in the Video forum due to all the 7800GTX debate going on so I thought I'd try here. I was wondering if this card is worth the money:

It's been OCed a bit and has a larger fan on it. I was looking at sub $300 video cards and this one caught my eye. I was thinking about getting it if Newegg gets anymore in but they're out of stock and have no ETA date.

I'd say go for it :)

It's not much more than the other X800XLs, & you certainly shouldn't have any heat issues with that one!

I see they put an ETA on there today. I guess I'll get one on the 23rd. That is of course someone knows some issues this card has.

Mmmm not a bad deal. Get if you like the noise and temp reduction. Otherwise, a normal XL runs for 250 doesnt it?

The HIS is clocked higher too. It looks worth it to me. Too bad it would interfere with my NB47J and I just bought a BBA X800 XL.

no, the price would go down if ATI responded to nVidea's launch though.

That card is worth it only if you dont need 2 dvi. The cooler itself costs 25$

they should, but probably not that much since the new cards are really expensive and wont be that demanding for regular marketers.

my question is, why not get a new one from newegg. they are actually a few bux cheaper. the Asus X800XL is at the top of the list if you do a search by VPU type

It's OC'ed, has good aftermarket HSF ($35!) and performs better than other X800XLs and has good warranty and support. I'd get it if I had the $$$. :)

Digital Video Input.

Most LCD monitors use that.

I say go for it, it's only a measly ~10 bucks more than the cheapest x800xl, and that HSF is definitely worth more than 10 bucks!

Now, even though this one looks very tempting, it's a perfect example of a rip off!

You can get an x850XT PE for 80 bucks more!

Not to get too picky but DVI stands for Digital Video Interface (not input); the cards OUTPUT at their Digital Video Interfaces - their DVI jack(s) on the bracket of the videocard to the LCD monitor.

So the DVI jacks on the videocards are OUTPUTS while the DVI jacks on the LCD monitors are INPUTS , that's why DVI means Digital Video Interface.

;)
