X1800GTO cost $218 ish and a X1800XT can be bought for $269 after rebate

I would just buy an X1800XT unless performance is much better of an OC/Unlocked x1800gto.

a smaller % of computer users will void their warranty with a bios flashe then those that use crossfire, it looks like a good deal, if the price drops more i might get one and try it though

I doubt that. 9500 NP's and X800 Pro's, and others sold like hot cakes just because of a pipe opening flash. Flashing is not hard, if you can flash your bios on your mobo, you can do your card as well. You can always reflash if something goes wrong.

Stick in a PCI video card and reflash the old bios I believe.

I'm still not so sure the unlocking can be done. People at XS and OCForums are starting to claim that the HPEKC source was fake, and very few people have provided real concrete evidence of this working. I tried it with a Connect3D X1800GTO with no luck, so I tossed the card in FS/FT so someone who will make use of a good card can buy it for what it is.

I may try a HIS card, but like mentioned above...after my shipping costs and loss of value costs, I could probably have gotten the XT...and then the 7900GT...and then...

But alas, there is a strict budget.
