Bleh, AnandTech reviewed a card with that cooler on it a while back and it was only margonally better than the stock cooler noise and cooling wise. Hopefully they've gotten a new revision of it since then.

I mean sheesh 92C :Q vs 81C? With my stock cooler and with custom fan settings I never went past 70C. Sure it got noiser under load, but it was still whisper quiet when idle.

Ah well I guess its all marketing........

While it's not exactly earth shattering news, it should be a welcome change over the stock cooler. Even if it doesn't cool a whole lot better, it would be great just to quiet down the X1k's a bit. I wonder if Arctic Cooling is going to sell these as replacement coolers as well or if it's just going to be HIS.

Look at the environment they are in though. They have no case fans, and it all depends if those plastic boxes are sealed or not.

Damn, all that looks like is an Artic cooling silencer slapped on to it. Why would I pay premium for that?

well more than likely that is all it is. Thats what HIS has done in the past... Just put an AC on and there you go. It really depends if you want that 3rd party heat sink warrentied or not. IE the AC is going to cost you 25-30 anyways...

Yep, the front of the plastic doesnt seem to have any air vents. Since the cooler get the air from the back of the card, I dont see any fresh air coming in there.

But this is welcome. AC's new cooler doesnt exhaust air out of the back, sadly.

That thing is all copper with a nice big heatpipe. I've never seen a Silencer like that.

I had been holding out for a x1800 and now x1900 with a cooling system suited for my HTPC, it looks like this could be the ticket.
