HIS Hightech X1950PRO 512MB 256bit PCI-E $215 and change at the Egg!

Newegg has listed this HIS X1950 Pro video card. It seems to have rather nice specs for the cash, and so far the price seems to be pretty hot for a crossfire card.

Edit: Oops! Fixed the link!

Nice GPU for the price, but god help you if you need warranty support from HIS.

NewEgg FTW?

100% true ... the ONLY warranty support HIS offers according to their website is through the vender (I found this out the hard way when my 2ed X1900XTX failed) so if you go through Newegg you'll HAVE a warranty at least.

Thanks for pointing this out! That is really POOR customer service! I will NEVER consider buying any HIS product if this policy stays the same.

Used to love HIS because they seemed to always have the best coolers, but I've had problems with their cards and if it wasn't for Newegg's own return service I'd be in a bad predicament.

you honestly think you will use that same gpu a year from now? honestly.... But I'd go with the cheaper one with better warranty that someone mentioned earlier in the thread.

Newegg card is out of stock, although they have in stock a slightly slower but cheaper X1950GT for $155 (saphire)

VisionTek X1950 Pro is $229 AR this week at CUSA.

A little more but if it's in stock you can just walk down and pick it up (and walk back and return it)

Is vision tek still ok?

Visiontek is the only Lifetime Warranty ATI chipset video card maker I know of shy of PowerColor's x19XX series or higher lifetime warranty (which I think is restrictive)

YES, I would use the card a year from now. I've got 4 PCs on a LAN and I don't upgrade 4 video cards every year.

Why not? It's a perfectly good card. Having said that, I'd spend the extra $15 and grab the X1950XT ... more than worth it.
