HIS Hightech Iceq3

ICEQ 3 on X1900XT

I want that cooler, except I don't want to rebuy my card. Does anyone know whether I can buy just the cooler somewhere? Or, what other cooler would be a good buy for my X1900XT? I'm tired of the noisy stock fan.

unfortunately there is no ATI silencer that fits the X1900 series otherwise I'd get it 🙁 the Accelero X2 exhausts the heat directly onto the mobo. the VF900 is better but it still blows heat around instead of out. Now I do have a 140mm fan in the back of the case, so in that case would the VF900 be OK since it blows the heat out from around the card? I just don't want hot air being recirculated inside the case and heating other stuff up. The accelero blowing the hot air directly at the mobo doesn't sound all that great.

cools better and a lot quieter than stock, and unlike the accelero or VF900 it blows the hot air out the back like the stock. Appearance is secondary but a plus 😉

maybe I'm just being crazy. I just want the best cooling option I can get without all the noise and without going water.

I have heard many stories about those type coolers eventually having noise and fan issues later on after just a little use.

Silencer still being used after 6 months and no noise problems.

OP: You don't completely know the Silencer DOESN'T work. Maybe it does fit and you just don't know it?

Wait a minute...that thing has heatpipes. No Silencer right now has a heatpipe yet...Better wait then I think.

I thought about that, so I looked at the ati silencers. Unfortunately the mounts are different and the ram pads are in the wrong spots

I don't think the case temps change (significantly, anyway) when the fan blows outside the case as opposed to having it locally redistribute it. I know I've seen some figures here but I'd be hard-pressed to find them again...

OK I wasn't sure on that, since my X1900 sure can pump out the heat when under load. I suppose it shouldn't be a problem also considering I have an oversized 140mm fan in the back 😀

Hehe I'm waiting for graphics cards to be in a CPU-like socket with video-out cords running to the back panel so they can put massive coolers on them like CPUs 😛

If you've got the know-how, buy some heat pipes, bend them yourself, affix some sort of heat sink to one end and a mating block on the other, and run them outside (think heat piped HSF... with very long heat pipes).

Anyway, the Accelero X2 and the Evercool Turbo2 coolers are probably the best values as far as graphics card coolers go.

hehe I don't have the skills to do that, but that would be cool to do 😀

only 20 if you buy with a Freezer 64 Pro...I for one don't need another Freezer64 Pro...so that kinda ruins the deal for me (shh...accelero c0d3 ftw)
