I have had recently a few BSOD's occur within the past month on my gaming rig. I am running an ATi HIS 5850 Radeon HD card and this is the cause of my problem. I have taken it to a shop for them to look at my windows/minidump file the BSOD reports to. It turns out that the card needs to be replaced. Here's where it began.
So, I signed up on HISdigital.com's website and put in a submit ticket form and took them nearly 5 days to respond. HIS customer support is located in Hong Kong BTW. They suggested I roll back the driver from the Catalyst Suite 11.2 which im using the 10.0.2 version for this particular card. So, I rolled back the driver to that version.
Three days ran fine, then another BSOD pops right back up. Took it down to a different PC shop, same problem. So, sent HIS another submittal ticket form. This time they tell me to install ATi winflash program. Ran it and did good for about 2 days. BSOD once again, same error minidump problem.
2 days ago, called up AMD customer support, they told me quote "We understand your concern about getting a replacement graphics card, since it is under warranty still, but we do not support any of that. We simply build the GPU, then ship it out to our subcontractors (HIS, Sapphire, ASUS, etc)." I was even told to get a RMA put in for this card. So, submitted that ticket in and have not heard since.
I understand it takes time, but after a week and if I hear nothing, what else can I do? Go to a local news team? Report them to Better Business Bearau? or spread via word of mouth never buy an AMD ATi Graphics Card?
