In any case the Corsair 450VX is a very good PSU, so I'm thinking it's more of a RAM (timing) or motherboard issue which crops up as a result of a 4850 putting more of a stress on the system than a 7600GT.

Also, most newer motherboards can be flashed from within the bios via a USB thumb drive instead of a floppy.

Dont bother trying to help him, I tried to tell him to do that up above and the thanks I got for it is a pm after I offered to make a trade with him since he decided it was all doing this because of a broken card, and was willing to help him in me taking the chance with his "broken" card, was to save him time and trouble and offer my 100% working 9800GT for his and $20, which he could of haggled with me on the money part, but my main point was I was willing to trade with him so he can have a card in less then a week then dealing with a rma, and god forbid they found his card to be working and they hit him with a 15% re-stocking fee. Im told by him Im trying to fuck him, I dont know what I am doing. I am trying to force him into doing things he feels wont work, Im coming across to him as all knowing and god, or thinks Im off my rocker for suggesting it, and he thinks Im trying to fuck him in a trade giving him my fully functional 9800GT for his maybe dead card and $20, and that I need to fuck off and die.

I am astounded that he comes here, asks for help, shits in the peoples faces when they tell him how to determine if it really is his card so that he doesnt waste his time and money finding out its not his card after he waits 3 weeks for another card to show up, only to have the same problem again, but will not know unless he tries this first. Im told FUCK YOU, and fuck off by him.

And then I find out he was going to rma the card for a 9800GT, for some reason I offered my 9800gt and for me to take a gamble with his and just $20 for my trouble, and Im told Im trying to fuck him, and Im a scammer.

This guy is just unreal.

>You also need to rip everything out and turn off everything but just the bare hardware to get the computer to boot. And if it does then you can sorta pinpoint what it was you had installed that was actually causing the problems.

How will that help anything? The computer boots fine every single time. It just blue screens when Vista loads. I don't see how mixing and matching components will do anything whatsoever.

I'm installing graphics drivers right now on XP, we will see what happens.

OK this is my psu.

As for removing hardware, its because there are times that though it may boot into safe mode, it wont boot regular because in safe mode only the bare drivers are installed, just the ones needed to get it to boot into safe mode a and thats it, its not running your hardware at its 100% as it would if it boots the other way. Hence why when your in safe mode and try to open some programs you get a message thats says your in safe mode and not all the functions of the program may not be working correctly. Again this is why when your having troubles as you are you must start with just enough hardware to boot into windows and thats it. If it boots fine and your programs you were tying do not crash, then you can start to pin point what hardware it was giving you trouble, and see if there is a fix or driver, or something else you will need to buy to replace it for it is not compatible with your system or os software. To you it doesnt make sense, but when you been building them for as long as I have and had some of the things go wacky and found the reasons why, you normally would not as for help and then when you get it question that person who is trying to point you in the direction you need to go in to find out what is the cause of your troubles.

Computers are a total pita, no matter who makes them, or what parts are in them, I have only come into a select few that I was able to install it all and be finished with no problems at all, but then there are some that fight me tooth and nail and takes me days to pint point what the cause of it all is.

But with your replies it is clear you dont really want the help, or feel like questioning the help for you dont understand really why Im saying that I am, and have still yet to answer my question and another member asking you about where your volts are showing under the bios screen, so this is my last reply. Im trying to help you with my over 10 years of building computer for personal and business use drom scratch, not buying a dell and setting that up. Ive seen and done things you just dont understand or can comprehend why Im telling you to try, but there is a reason for my madness and YOU DID ask for help.

You can feel free to look at google to see what kinds of hardware will cause you probblems if you feel like not listening to me.

Dude his power supply is fine. It's a corsair and definitely enough for a 4850. It a compatibility or software issue which he can't figure out.

Modern mobos can be updated with a flash drive.

Yes, that is fine, but what I was trying to do was to get him to diag the computer to make sure it is his GPU, hence why I asked him about that because with a 3850/8800gt and above, a PSU has a lot to do with your computer posting or not, and it is usually my first question I ask. As you can see with my replies after that, I was asking for him to try other options to see then if not the psu, what it can be, he didnt want to listen.

Funboy, would you please, please just leave me alone. You have been harassing me in this thread and PMs for days and it is really getting old. Sorry that I don't want to pay you $20 to send me a card I will be getting from Newegg RMA and even get $10 back from it.

Im Harassing you???? Thats funny as shit! And I told you in my pm to you I DONT WANT YOUR CARD, not after you told me to fuck off for trying to help you, and even after that I still tried to help you only for you to reply back to me rudely. You want me to stop, stop pm'ing me back in a childish ass hole way that deserves to get a reply back.

Not yet, I'm going to see what happens with the new card first. The 4850 is already packed up and ready to go.

Perhaps a final update here, if anyone is interested. I just got the 9800 today, plugged it in, and same ol' crap. Wasn't blue-screening this time, but was freezing during the Windows loading sequence every time without fail. So, I tried my last possible step before returning the 9800 and just sticking with the old (but working) 7600gt and flashed the bios. Lo and behold, it worked! And I just ran CoD5 at full settings at 1920x1200 for about 20 minutes with no hiccups at all. So, things are looking good. I've only booted 3 times, but they all worked, so I'm feeling good.

Thanks a ton to everyone who helped out on this.
