^ The only reason it became a 'contender' is because it was 80W more but $30 cheaper that the Seasonic I originally chose.

Just because I want opinions about a new brand that I never heard of that makes it whack? It is not like I started this thread saying how great they were, I just wanted te hear from people who had real experience with them.

Isn't that 500W? Or does Seasonic rate theirs differently for some reason?

Yes its 500W, but I thought you edited your OP to a 500W unit from a 600W unit.

Galvanized, shadykidd has like 10 links to great PSUs similar to that Silverstone in the other thread.

Thanks for the link. As I said in my last thread, I my orginal choice was between the Seasonic and Liberty, but I chose the Seasonic because everyone makes it sound like the king of PSUs. The more I read now and the advice I am getting here, I am leaning back towards the Liberty.

Why are you so indecisive? I could post another 2 PSU links and you wouldn't make a choice for another week.

Indecisive?? In my thread about building my PC I hand-picked over 15 parts, all of which I think look pretty damn nice. Since I can't choose a PSU, something that I know practically nothing about and came here asking for help, I am labeled as indecisive?

I appreciate you pointing out that I do not need 500+ watts of power, and that I am probably overpaying by getting a Seasonic vs. the Liberty. But do you have to be so rude about it? Is this how every new member that asks for advice gets treated?

I have seen people make post with the most randomly, unresearched component list and people treat them nice and help them out. I have one part that I am having a tough time deciding about and I get ripped for it. Not cool.

It is if you have no critera for a power supply. You have NO criteria at all.

You know what I do when I get a PM asking me what PSU I suggest for them? Delete. Even between the Seasonic and Enermax Liberty, you have modular vs. non-modular.

If you really have no criteria for a power supply, why pay for modular, bling, extra power, etc?

If you have no criteria for a power supply, just get an Enhance or Silverstone Element 500W (same thing) that Galvanized suggested.

It has zero bling, isn't modular, but it puts out what it's rated to do and is 80+ efficient and is very quiet. Otherwise, you're going to get bombarded by a myraid of "personal opinions."

Honestly, the best choice you made was your first choice: The Seasonic. If that PSU meets your standards and fits the budget, someone shouldn't be talking you out of it with suggestions of blingified modular units... unless that's what YOU want. But it's expensive and is more than what you need (in my opinion) so the Enhance/Silverstone is a better choice.

No. And it's cool that you want to know more about the product before you buy it. But more often than not, people that don't have "real experience" with anything else if they actually use one (most responses will be from people that just "read a good review.")

Keep in mind that most of the user opinions here are just that; "opinions." Usually based on personal, limited experiences or based on something they read somewhere else. Take everything with a grain of salt.

jonny, you are right, shadykidd doesn't have any critera. But I think what is holding him up is the hype of the PSUs that he hears about, but at the same time not knowing about them. "get the PC P&C 1kw so you always have enough power", then someone else "OCZ gamexstream 700W will last you through DX10", then someone else "450-500W of power is more then enough". Not knowing who to believe, or who is right, he just picks somebody or chooses a different PSU then he was recommended, where he again gets more random suggestions.

^ You're right. I really do not know much about a PSU at all. To throw out some criteria for what I am looking for:

-Easy and reliable install
-Will be able to handle DirectX10 cards
-Clean install, preferably detachable wires
-Quiet and consistent

Enermax Liberty sounds like it fits all of that. The Seasonic would as well, but I heard the wire management is not the best.

There you go! That a boy!

Ok... So you're looking for a good modular power supply.

The Enermax Liberty is a better choice than the Hiper and the 500W version is all you need for your build.
