Oh man, don't get me all excited like that! I posted that link a while back in a Hot Deals thread.

Anyway, I hope Steven comes through and hooks us up with a Latitude c400 type ultraportable, but with a Radeon 32MB option (instead of that worthless shared video memory). Am I holding out for something that's never gonna happen?

oh my bad.

i must do at least 50-100 refreshes a day at dell's site waiting for the 4200's to come out so the 4100 would drop to a decent price.

man i started a new job on march06, had to give up the company laptop, and have been waiting since then to get a new laptop. me you and rossman all suffer.

there are a ton of nice laptops out but most of them have this shi*ty 8mb shared video memory garbage - its killing me.

its never gonna happen. dell wouldnt do it anyways... the l400 is a corporate laptop and dell doesnt put those options on subnotes plus battery life would be bad, so basically you'll never get it.

you should start looking at the up the thinkpad x30. for some reason IBM feels that a radeon 7500 belongs in a 4 pound laptop.

I couldn't find any mention of an X30 model, when is that due to come out? Or do you mean the T30? The X24 also looks like it might be what I'm looking for.

X24 1.13Ghz, 3.7 lbs, 8MB Radeon

T30 1.6Ghz P4, 5.67 lbs, 16MB Radeon

the t30 and a31 are already out. but ibm issued a press release a while back saying all their new x , r, a, and t series would have the radeon 7500 in it . at least i think i remember that. they use the radeon m6 in the x22 right now. i guess to show that they like ATI or something. so when the x30 comes out, well then that'll be that. at leats i'm pretty sure i remember reading that.

I see. It looks like the T30 already is a 7500 Radeon (16MB), but the "new" X24 is only and M6 Radeon (at least, it says "new" on their site). Maybe the X25 will have a 7500...

If you're refreshing the site waiting for the I4200, you're gonna be refreshing a while. :)
