Hindu ritual going on in my neighborhood?????

well, i heard that some Indians (from India) bought some land over by the lake in our subdivision. Well, today when driving home from school, i saw them out on the plot of land they bought. they had a bunch of unbrellas out and several cars were parked there. there was a dude in some robe giving some sort of ritual (possibly a blessing??) on the new land they bought, so i imagine they are Hindu, (are Catholics known to do this?). So i did the most natural thing that came to me, i went outside and put some steaks on the grill:evil:. But, they do have a hot daughter (my age) , but that is a very long shot considering the racial and religious differances and the possiblility she is already locked into an arranged marrage (is that what they do or is it a stereotype)

Not just Catholics. I'd say just about every religious sect that buys a piece of land will have some sort of blessing/consecration ceremony before they break ground and start building a church/temple/tabernacle/synagogue/mosque/recruitment facility.

"ritual" isnt the word for it...more like "ceremony" (ritual sounds kinda evil :evil: ). Many Hindus carry out the blessing ceremonies when they buy a new house, car, etc.

I'm Hindu and I'll give you my take on it.

When we were getting our ho me custom built a few years back, we placed some metals which had representations of some gods on it in the rocks underneath the cement for the basement since it is kind of what the entire house stands on.

As for the girl, many today want to go out and get American's boys and get married, atleast in the US. Whereas, atleast I've heard, since I'm 15 from many people, that the guys want to get an Indian girl so she can cook Indian food, hehe.

So, you'll have the higher chances. You get tons of brownie points if her parents like you. Before you use that great pick up line you've been saving, get to know the family a bit more, as in inviting them over to your family's home, oh yeah, don't serve meat. Actually, if you invite them, just ask them politely if you can include meat or something. make a good impression, it helps if you mention grades and awards you've gotten. Then ask how their daughter is doing. of course, you'd have to talk your parents into doing the talking because it would be kind of lame inviting her parents and her for dinner with just you and then talking about yourself to the parents.

lol! I saw that yesterday but that?s not where I know the hindu gods names. I saw an Indian show called mahabharata (sp) when I was a kid and it was all about the Hindu religious stuff. I just forgot who is who and who does what hehe.

You watched Mahabharata?? All of it?? My parents are watchign that now actually on DVD ( there are 16 DVDs I think..each runs about 4 hours non-stop). I have to fight with them to get to use the tv, I pretty much begged to watch F1 on Sunday. Its a long story regarding two families.
