Loki's right, unfortunately. Jon's great, but he gets super wimpy when it comes to dealing with anyone in a real position of power.

He's a pretty humble guy, and of course he's still only on Comedy Central.

I think people are confusing Jon Stewart with Ed Murrow for some reason. He's a funny guy, and he actually has some pretty insightful things to say every once in a while...but it's still comedy news. Not that it won't be worth watching of course, if only because Hillary trying to appeal to younger people is just awkward. If Hillary is pulling 20% among Daily Show viewers, I'd be surprised.

I don't really agree. I think jon has been pretty tough on a lot of people in positions of power. I think that he feels that not being totally nitpicky and harassing them about stupid crap that will serve no purpose and he wants them to come back on the show an keep a dialog going instead of just making enemies.

Was Hillary on SNL earlier tonight? I only caught the last half hour but I noticed that the host (I forget her name) thanked Senator Clinton for being on the show (I think).

she had a cameo towards the end of the opening sketch.

I lol'd.

SNL seems funnier since the strike.

That's really not saying a whole lot.

When? The only remotely good interview I recall he's ever done of anyone "major" was of Dick Cheney's wife. His interviews of John Kerry, Bill Clinton, etc. were all so embarassing that they could have been done by a reporter for the high school paper.

I'll make time to watch it.

Disagree completely. I wish the majority of actual interviewers had half his nuts in fact. If anything I think Stewart is too concerned with the feelings of his guests, regardless of their political orientation or message. He's no stranger to scowling at the audience or making comments to them in a "ok, stfu now" manner when it's obvious public opinion in the studio is heavily against his guest.

Nothing too wimpy about how he grilled Bolton, in fact I applauded him for being able to do it respectfully and stay on the issue, without getting personal in an effort to be funny.

Stewart tactfully sticking it to on a particular CNN talking head comes to mind as well...

SNL seemed funnier 10 years ago.

It is infuriating that I'm seeing this kind of sexist remark in P/N forum. Would a comment like below be accepted in this forum?

If you said that asshole doesn't have any real power it would be the same thing, and no one really cares, i think you're making an absolutely ridiculous comparison--embarrassingly so.

I  John Stewart, but he kinda sucks at interviewing anyone in any position of power.

Well thats ok that bitch doesn't have any real power

she's got as much power as any other senator... certainly enough to come within a hair of winning the democratic primary.

Quoted for textbook example

Hmm? Stewart's interviews are fantastic because he knows when he should put the comedy aside and be serious with certain guests. He's typically more engaging than the average news hack, and gives anyone a fair chance to speak their mind, even if the audience hates the guest's views.

She was funny on SNL. I'm all for giving her her 15 minutes of fame, especially as a consolation prize for her failed bid at the presidency.
