i think if you were old enough to get what it is you are old enough to see the commercial

And if the child isn't old enough to understand and then starts asking or wanting one ?

if they asked me for one i would just say no

if they asked something i would probably just make up something

maybe its not the best answer but that is what i would do

Maybe he is one of those parents who feeds his kids MacDonalds 7 days a week, 3 meals a day, just cause they ask for it. Especially at that age 'No' should not be that hard for parents.

Probably.

You are obviously not a parent, your views will change when you get older and decide to have children of your own.

what would you do then?

What exactly is your question, please clarify.

I think he means, if your child asked you "what is that, can i have one?" about the dildo commercial, what would you say to your child..

And don't say "i wouldn't let my child watch something like that!" What if your child happened to stumble across something like that on TV, what would you say?

Part of an expensive stereo, we can't afford one.

Or any other the other simple lies we tell children, like the existance of God or Santa Claus.

It is not going to come to that unless I move to Europe, assuming that this commercial was broadcast on TV here in the states, then I would monitor his TV viewing at all times, much like I did when he was real young, unlike some parents, i don't let him sit in front of the boob tube to keep him busy, I keep him busy and educated by teaching him skills on a daily basis.
TV is only for cartoon watching 1 hour a day. These are the skills you should learn before you become a parent, being a parent is not just the fun part of making him/her.

You still didn't answer the question though.. You can't monitor your child 24x7x365 .. When he goes on sleepovers at his friends house, do you go with him? 🙂

What if he were at his friends house, and they saw something on TV and he started asking questions, like "i saw this silver vibrating bullet thing on tv the other day over at Joe's house.. what is it dad?"

First off, he never sleeps over friends houses because he is still too young for that, second, I know all his friends parents on a personal level, If I chose to let him sleep over, one of the rules would be no TV, I would never let him be exposed to this, now if it should happen that by one in a million chance that they air this on TV in the US, he sleeps over a friends house and sees it, I would explain to him that it is a adult toy not meant for children.

Control your child, shape his future.

Why do you think that those commercials are not aired here ?

Wow, not only is Roger an awesome mechanic, he's a good parent, too! 😉

agreed! I'm not a parent (yet!) but when I'm taking care of my niece, TV is a no no. And if she does get to watch, it's only movies (disney type). I spend alot of time reading to her and playing with her. My sister and bro in law are the same way. It takes time, granted, but man its so much worth it in the long run
