For those of you keeping updated, the Hike for Diabetes will be switching servers soon, thanks to Douglas Calobrisi from Centrix Enterprises. We've also added two more sponsors to our list, GVP Backpacks (Great Minimal-weight Backpacks for the Ultralight Traveler)) and a local company, Backcountry Outfitters, for three ice-axes.
We're currently working with Alaska Airlines for airline tickets. We hope to be hearing from them soon. Currently, the main thing we're working on is food; we've contacted QFC with a request, but have yet to hear back from them. We're considering adding Safeway and Costco to the list of contacted companies as well. Wish us luck.
Other good news: I've heard back from several diabetics thanking me for what I'm doing, for the community and the ADA in general. That alone is making this trip worth it.
Soon I will be adding a link to another diabetic mission-of-sorts, IDEA 2000 - a group of diabetic climbers climbing Aconcagua in South America (Idea 2000). Check them out.
We have raised $101.53 so far in pledges for diabetic awareness. As time passes, things are moving faster and faster. Thanks to all of you for any support you may have given.
