Hijackthis problem....(registry related)

I was deleting a known spyware suspect from a hijack this scan, problem is I supidly selected the wrong choice and deleted something that pretty much messed up my internet explorer and firefox. Whenever I open either one, I get an error message relating to appcompat.txt in my /local settings/temp folder in my doccuments and settings directory.

I know what appcompat.txt is for, but that isn't the point. I need to find out how to reinput this registry entry so my internet can function normally again, but for some reason regedit is not taking it. I've enclosed the entry below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost

-thanks

Copy and paste the following into Notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"ProxyOverride"="localhost"

Save it as something like temp.reg (you'll need to change the Save As Type box to "All Files" first), and then double-click it.

If that doesn't solve the problem, use System Restore to roll your machine back by a day or two. That should fix it.
