Hijackthis log

I've been having a lot of problems with my computer lately. It is a lot slower than it used to be, and I mean A LOT! It takes damned near 10 minutes to load my desktop whereas it used to take 15 seconds. Please tell me what is wrong, and if nothing is wrong, can you give me something to try to fix it? Thanks.

I don't believe that you need any of this crap to be starting up at startup...

go into msconfig from the run commang on the start menu and look in the startup tab and see what is in there.....get rid af all non essential stuff

Two anomalous entries:

1. Running processes - C:\WINDOWS\inf\svchost.exe

2. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [77tf3te] sceurity.exe

The second definately looks wrong, not too sure about the first but I dont think the genuine copy of svchost.exe runs from that path.

What AV are you running? Update your AV, restart in safe mode and do a full system scan.

Yes, I have both Ad-aware 6.0 and Spybot S&D.

I have NOD32. But, I'm not too sure whether or not it runs in safe made.

I am no expert, but when I have had problems like this in the past, it was far easier to wipe and reload than to trace the problems. If you have a "clean image" of your disk after loading, use that. If not, you will have to start from scratch (and this time make an image) to reload your OS and programs. Be sure to save data files, email files, favortites, use MS to save your office config if you have that and don't want to rebuild toolbars, etc. download latest drivers in advance and burn to a CD. Make yourself an SP2 (WinXP) or SP4 (Win2000) cd if applicable to save time later. Also make sure you capture your NAV or mcAffee subscription numbers , if applicable.
It really only takes one or two hours to prepare and one evening or less to do all the re-installs. Then make sure you are covered with AV, Anti-Spyware, and Firewall apps, and take a fresh image of the system before you ever go online, so you can restore again if you need to do so much faster.
Hope that helps. Been there, done that, no porblems now.
If your problems recur with all the protection in place, you may have a hardware issue.

I'm not quite sure how to reformat my computer, though. Do you think that you could tell me step by step?
