Boot in Safe Mode and nuke these:

When you're finished, reboot into normal mode, update your antivirus defintions, and run a full virus scan. Also scan the system with SuperAntispyware and MalwareBytes.

After that,

1) install Service Pack 3 for WinXP

2) then install Internet Explorer 7, regardless of what browser you routinely use in person

3) then run Secunia's Personal Software Inspector and fix what it says needs fixing.
