You guys should be more thankful Canada is looking out for you.. It's not our job to take out terrorist threats against the US.

:)

And yes, the CF-18 Hornets are damn fine aircraft.

I'm sure if there were terrorist on that plane, it would be easier for them to cross our borders from canada to the US than to get through airport security in jfk.

Go us...

Mexico would be my point of entry, if I were a terrorist. (Just so you know, I am not a terrorist, I know someone would ask)

Canadian fighter jets were to escort the jet, which is carrying 271 passengers and 17 crew.
Since when did Canada get fighter jets? I thought they just had the tank?

American aircraft cover Canada. I assume by "Canadian Fighter Jets" they mean "USAF fighter jocks who boinked too many high school chicks and got transferred to the great white north"

The RCAF flies pretty decent aircraft.

TV reporting that the hijack is a false alarm.

If I recall properly, those are A models, throwaways from an order the US Navy cancelled.... And in dire need of repairs.

Co-pilot to pilot: "I boinked one of the flight attendants last night. Ooops, is my mic on?"
Air traffic control: "I heard him say boink! That's the code word for a hijacking!" <so the hijackers don't know that the pilot is telling air control they're being hijacked>

Whatever the code word is, I'll bet it's something they didn't think would come up in normal conversation.

It's not shocking that you guys didn't watch the episode of LAX that had this same thing happen. The pilot punched in the hijack code and claimed it was an accident. SWAT came into the airfield anyway but the trick was there was an extra SWAT truck following back a bit and was let into the gates. When investigations found there was really no hijack, the SWAT trucks left, except for the last one, which promptly robbed a storage area holding some expensive goods... obviously the pilot was in on it.

Jets is plural in this statement. I am pretty sure that Canada only has one fighter jet - and it is on lease from the US.

They need to correct this.

I am also sure though that they sent a few Mounties and tug boats out to greet the passengers.

its not a "code word" althought I would assume that there are multipul ways to indicate that a hijack has taken place, its a frequency change to 7500.

A Cessna with a shotgun mounted on it doesn't count as a fighter jet.

Canada reserves the right to call wildlife "military units". So these aircraft are probably Canadian Geese.

Seriously, though, they have F-18's.

I thought that was the pre 9/11 method, and was changed because everyone and their dog knows to turn off the xpndr immediately after assuming control.
