NBC: London-New York Virgin Airlines flight sends hijack alert code

"HEW YORK - A Virgin Atlantic flight from London to JFK Airport in New York was being diverted Friday after air traffic controllers heard the hijack code coming from the crew.

Virgin Atlantic said it had contacted the pilot, who said the aircraft was not being hijacked, but as a precaution the plane was being sent an airport in Halifax, Canada.

Canadian fighter jets were to escort the jet, which is carrying 271 passengers and 17 crew."

American aircraft cover Canada. I assume by "Canadian Fighter Jets" they mean "USAF fighter jocks who boinked too many high school chicks and got transferred to the great white north"

The RCAF flies pretty decent aircraft.

TV reporting that the hijack is a false alarm.
 
In the P & N forums, this thread has almost no views.

I'm sure if there were terrorist on that plane, it would be easier for them to cross our borders from canada to the US than to get through airport security in jfk.
