Please let me know what lines I should have removed. This is on a Win 98 SE comp. I have already ran Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, and Panda antivirus online, to get things cleaned up. Currently using msconfig I have disabled most of the startup group items.
Thanks

Hello JohnG86,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Disable system restore, malware can come back through it.
3. Reboot into safe mode.
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer.

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:NavigationFailure
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:NavigationFailure
  • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:NavigationFailure
  • R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:NavigationFailure
  • R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:NavigationFailure
  • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
  • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:NavigationFailure
  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A1A33A2E-17C7-11D9-816B-0010B10A022A} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IKC.DLL
  • O8 - Extra context menu item: &Viewpoint Search - res://C:\PROGRAM FILES\VIEWPOINT\VIEWPOINT TOOLBAR\VIEWBAR.DLL/CXTSEARCH.HTML
  • O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug (HKCU)

Additional Steps

1. Clear your Temporary Files
2.Restart into normal windows

Now I keep having Spybot S&D Teatimer notifying me that easy-search.biz is trying to get eentered into the registry. How can I get rid of that spyware? I will run Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware again to see if they find anything.

Thanks
