I'm looking at getting this power supply but I've never seen anyone say anything about them in the forums.

I live in New Zealand so was wondering if they are only available here.

If anyone does know anything about them are they a good/bad manufacturer?

Made by Sirtec which usually is not good.

However, Oklahoma Wolf over at Jonnyguru.com reviewed a Sirtec built Coolmax 1350 Watter and was very impressed with it Link

Not good in what way?

That PSU looks like the one I want just higher rated.

Not good as in most Sirtec built PSUs are junk

back when Thermaltake was a swear word for anyone looking for a PSU, they were using Sirtec

While OK Wolf liked that Coolmax 1350W he reviewed a Sirtec made 700W supply and the voltage regulation stunk and it blew a capacitor, and ripple was horrible at full load.

What are your other options? Why do you want the High Power specifically?

Mostly I was looking at it because it was cheap and modular and because I don't think my current 600 watt Thermaltake will be able to cope with 4850CF which I am upgrading to in a couple of weeks.

For a bit less money I could go with a Corsair TX750 or for a similar amount I could go with an Antec TruePower Quattro 850W or Zalman ZM850-HP 850W.

How many watts would you recommend for an oced q6600, x48, 4850cf, 4gb ram, 4 hdds, 2 odds and 5 120mm fans?

Well, I am not saying that Sitec PSU is crap...I really don't know. I am just saying I know that Sirtec makes more crap than decent PSUs. However, I personally rather go with a fully known quantity than something that I can't find anyone has tested.

As for what to use 4850CF in...I believe the ATI recommendation is a 550W PSU. So depending on what model your 600W PSU is and how old it is, it may handle it. It certainly wouldn't REQUIRE more than 750 Watts. If the Antec TPQ 850 I would jump on that because it is a known quantity, and known to be good. The Zalman is made by the same company who makes the TPQ also, but I have seen some not so great reviews on it, but most of those have been from somewhat dubious sites. I have seen a few great reviews of it too.

Ok well I may just go with the Corsair then. There is about $100NZ difference between that and the 850W, which is probably more than it is worth for me.
