I'm using the HighPoint Rocket Raid 404 card in my computer with 5 hard drives hooks to it. Any time I browse either RAIDed set it seems to lag, I cant select different files or folders until after at least 5-10 seconds. Here are the specs of my machine.

Windows XP pro
ECS D6VAA motherboard
Intel PIII 700 x 2
512mb PC133
ATI Raedon 8500 AGP
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card
Firewire card PCI
Kingston Network card
and for the HDs
Maxtor 60gb 7200rpm drive for booting IDE 1 master
Maxtor 60gb 5400rpm drive raid 0 IDE 3 master
Maxtor 60gb 5400rpm drive raid 0 IDE 3 slave
Maxtor 80gb 5400rpm drive raid 0 IDE 4 master
Maxtor 80gb 5400rpm drive raid 0 IDE 4 slave

IDE 3 and IDE 4 drives are in raid 0 so there is are two logical drives (120gb and 160gb) software RAID through win xp

I have the lastest drivers and bios loaded and installed.

Can you help me out?

if it's my system, i would use this setup.

2 60GB 5400 in raid 0

2 80GB 5400 in raid 0

I would not want to mix the different size because that's a waste of HD space

You have 2 hdds sharing the same IDE channel in RAID 0, though. I think it'd be better if you put them all in master, and another pair in slave, i.e. put the 60GB in primary master in RAID 0 with another 60GB in secondary master, then 80GB in primary slave with another secondary slave. Whenever the data are being written to your drives, they will be written in 2 seperate IDE channels which is faster than sharing the same channel.
You should also consider the chunk size when format them (search for more info, though)
