Highpoint RAID vs. Promise...

I currently have two Promise RAID controlers that really work great (now that I've removed the "Lite" BIOS and put in the full BIOS that is...) I'm looking at buying a new Epox 8K3A+ which includes a Highpoint RAID controller. 2 questions:
1. Does it let you set the cluster size of the stripe set? (8k for example...)
2. How does it stackup against the Promise?

TIA

I need to know this also. I am thinking about getting the Asus p4s533 and I need either a promise or highpoint. Highpoint seem to be a lot more money. What do you all think?

promise, hightpoint, and AMI are all software based raid and they all have the same basic features and the same basic performance

so you shouldnt have any trouble switching to a new board with a dif type of raid.

Actually the promise raid controller on the motherboard is a lite version which does not allow you to set the stripe size. It also does not allow raid 0+1. This can be cured through a "hacked" bios.
The onboard highpoint controller allows you to set the stripe size and raid 0+1 without any modifications.
The performance difference is not much between the two.
