HighPoint or Promise?

As a PCI controller card the choice is PROMISE

If you wanted to go Onboard RAID the choice becomes HiPoint.

I dissagree Highpoint is crap no matter what, buggy drivers too, you're way better off with promise be it onboard or pci addon card.

Highpoint has some serious problems with compatibility and data integrity. (not necessarily in that order)

Problem is most enthusiasts won't see this.

Build a server with Highpoint RAID1 and put MS Exchange information stores on that drive. Bring plenty of tissues because you're sure to cry a river! :Q

Getting back to the original question... No major complaints with Promise. Some controllers have an annoyingly long IDE SCAN discovery time, however us SCSI freaks are used to that! 🙂 Integrity rules any day.

Cheers!
