Anyone is using w2k or going to upgrade to w2k MUST avoid Highpoint products!!!

They just dunno how to write proper w2k driver for their IDE controllers. Under w2k for a task as simple as unzipping from CDROM to HDD will cause jerky mouse movement and skippy MP3 playback. Once connecting the HDD to onboard BX UDMA33 port, all headaches gone! Under W98 no such problem exists, showing that though the hardware is working, the w2k driver just plain sucks.

Hoping a new driver would fix the problem, I looked into their support site. Arggg... the latest w2k driver is still 6 months ago, still in BETA. Fvuk these lazy bastards that's what I got for waiting 6 months.

Lastly I decided to send them an email asking for help, and then what enrage me most, is their iresponsible tech support. They just played dumb and never give me an reply or acknowledgement. So I fired up another one begining with:

I'm VERY disappointed with the way you deal with customers. I sent you an email last week asking for help regarding a Highpoint product but never got reply. How moral it is for a well known hardware manufacturer to just decline and ignore the cry for help from its own customer? Everyone makes less than perfect products, it is fine just like everyone will make mistake. However, the way you deal with the customer really makes me sick, as well as all the readers in internet, newsgroups and forums. How difficult is it for you to just type a few words and click the button so that the poor guy in trouble would know that his problem is being listened? Excuse me, this is an really extremely bad example of "professional" which I should let it exposed to everyone I know and everyone in the internet world who I dunno as well, I promise, and you'll see.

Still, they pretend received nothing, as if nothing really matter to them. Now I've just resent a copy of the email with cc to their sale department. I'll fight to the end.

Highpoint SUCKS
Highpoint is SUCK
Never buy a Highpoint product, Go PROMISE!!!

Perhaps a more professional, less emotional "cry for help" would have been recipricated more to your liking. That email came off as just plain whiny.

Also, isn't it possible you just did a bad Win2k install, or incorrectly loaded the drivers, etc?

lunchboxa, read his post again. His first letter was ignored, this is a second try for a response. On the third try, anything goes. Ahfung, your grasp of the English language is improving every time you write. Your profanity is precise and to the point. Keep up the good work.

It would help if you told us if it was a pci controller or onboard, and if so, what mobo? I have a Soyo 6BA+100, and was having the same issue. What solved my problem is using the 1.0.2 drivers from july 25th. they have newer drivers out that are in beta still. I also upgraded my bios to a beta bios and that helped solve an issue with striping my drives. Make sure that you are using the correct drivers for your controller too, there is a raid and a non-raid version, and as I found out, the non-raid version causes problems if the highpoint controller supports raid. I spoke to their tech support via email and have had no problems with them.

Things are running fine now. Last night I striped my two drives and thing's are quite zippy now, and the lags are all gone. And if you have the soyo board I spoke of, email me for the beta bios if ya want @ supergax@bemail.org.

You didn't read all my words. I started with a "professional" one at first and waited for a week but got NO reply from them.

In the world there is nothing more frustrating when u feel like being ignored by the peopole who supposed to give u help and a little bit concern, something Highpoint staff failed to do.

If reinstalling w2k could solve the problem, I won't have to ask for help. No less than 5 times of installation with 2 versions of W2K. :(

It is HPT368 raid controller onboard my Epox BX7+. I found no BIOS update/driver update from Epox. Both original and the latest beta one dated April 27 of 2000(on Highpoint site) have been tried, no improvement at all. Are u using HPT370? You are lucky because 370 is their current line of product still under support.

For one... I work Tech support... you yell, wine, complain, bitch, moan...... = I do not help you! If you have ever worked customer service or tech support you would have a little respect for those on the other end! now with that said, 1 week? Please... I sent an e-mail to Lund truck accessories about my Tunnoe cover and I didn't get a response for over 2-3 weeks... you have to understand that sometimes things take time... yeah I know everybody wants answers now and fast.... yes they might not have the best driver support and that they have lagged on getting out up to date drivers.... speaking of which.. did you try the BETA drivers? Give them some slack before you flame... you will get no where... and ususally they will over look your a$$ if you are one!

dkozloski: was that supposed to be sarcastic?

well, you get what ya pay for, Highpoint is inexpensive and Promise is faster too.
check anand's BX133 shootout, MSI BX Master with Promise ATA66 is clearly faster than the rest, (Highpoint and CMD)

I wasn't trying to be a dick either... ok? Your best bet might be to call them, I have tried e-mail before and it usually gets lost or mail servers are known for weird happenings... when all else fails... call them!

Andylawcc, I was trying to compliment and encourage Ahfung. His use of english has improved immensely since he first started to post on this board. His spelling and grammar are superior to many on here who call English their native language.

Never had any problems with two SOYO 6BA+IV motherboards (different revisions too) with on board HPT366 ATA66 controllers in WIN2K...

My Soyo 6BA+IV works just fine in Win98 & Win2K. Maybe Soyo knows how to implement Highpoint and some other mobo manufacturers don't.

There must be some sort of problem with the highpoint controller since Soyo released a new bios for the 6ba+4 to fix the Ibm hardrive startup problem on the highpoint controller.

I had problems with my 66 controller with an abit be6. I got a response from highpoint with very little emmotion. They said that the were working on the problem. I doubt that very much since they are probably working on new controllers and forgetting about the old. I finally broke down and bought a promise ultra66. Never will I intentionally buy a Highpoint product.

Good luck with Soyo 6BA+IV (HPT366 as mentioned above) with Win2K, WinME, Linux, and the occasional glimmer of hope with BeOS.
