Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had an opion about the question in the message title? Also, I heard that the IBM 75GXP drives don't like these controllers. Since I'm planning on getting the Abit KT7 and a IBM 75GXP drive I was a little concerned.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

You mean by getting a promise ATA100 card and using that instead?

Thanks

well, it would be quite a waste of money to get a Promise provided with an onboard one already with ya Kt7.
but I heard ppl with it has driver troubles w/ Win2k.
performance wise, Promise is also faster.

I'm currently running a 15GB IBM75GXP on my KT7-Raid with no problems whatsoever. Its not in raid or anything, but it is connected to the highpoint controller. I've talked to many other people that have 75GXP's in Raid on the KT7-Raid with Highpoint HPT370 onboard controler, and they havent had any problems, and they got aroun 45-50k in the hard drive benchmark in sisoft sandra (i get 24k with a single drive)

I'd rather use the on board ATA66 than the HighPoint ATA100 controller. I heard that many of today's top hard drives perform better with onboard ATA66/100 than on a controller.

Excuse my ignorance, but is 24k for a single drive a good speed?

Thanks
