Highlighting

When trying to highlight a portion of a post, using the button for that purpose, in a post window, it bracketed the section with tags. But when I submitted it, the text was covered with a black stripe that totally covered the text, making it unreadable. How should this work, do I have to manually add color code tags also?

Never tried to highlight, always use bold. Going to post this to see what happens.

edit: I guess that's how it's supposed to work. I'll stick to bold when I want to emphasize something.

Odd, in the email notification that I got of this, the highlight appeared with white text, but obviously not within your post. That is the result that I got.

I see white text. Perhaps it's the color scheme you have chosen for the forums.

I'm using the default color scheme. Changing it wouldn't be good, because it wouldn't matter if I could read it, if someone else couldn't.

Well, so far it looks like someone else can read it but you can't. I have the default color scheme and I see the white text. Maybe others will weigh in and let you know if they have a problem with it. Browser make a difference? IE6 here. Good luck!

Thinking about it, I bet it has to do with some kind of incompatability with my browser (Opera). But, I'm not going to change that, so I will do as you, and use bold tags instead.

I have no problems with FF or IE6/7.

I do not use the default color scheme, but a cool blue.

Same here. I can read what allisolm highlighted.

It's not a browser issue. I'm using Opera and highlight works just fine.

Maybe a change to desktop font settings?

Looks fine for me in FF2.0. Black box with white text, if I highlight it I get blue text on white background. Custom forums scheme for me, but I didn't change any font colors.

Also using Opera with default (darkish) theme and her highlighting works :)

It's possibly a DPI setting (Video Adapter) or an accessibility setting (Windows).
