Highlander MMO

I've always thought an MMO based on the Highlander universe would be amazing but with one HUGE road block. What would happen when you get your head cut off? Surely they can't just let everyone resurrect and come back to life, that would alienate any fan of the show. So I was thinking, what if when you die you assume control of another immortal already "existing" in the world with the exact same (or slightly lesser) stats but a different appearance and name?

doesn't the mmo format defeat the purpose of the Highlander premise? although i never did quite understand how the whole thing would work because it seems like new immortals are being born all the time, if we go by the TV series.

We wouldn't necessarily have to see the gathering. It could just follow the new immortals being born policy.

The whole concept of Highlander is incompatible with an MMO, unless you allow permadeath. With the rise of WoW and the crap its spawned, this would never fly.

It might if you do it in a Utopia (the web game) type way. Killing someone is fairly hard, but possible. And the game resets every month or so. It would suck for the people that die quick though as they have basically thrown their money down the toilet (oh wait, you do that with MMO's anyways)

Highlander can be sumed up into two concepts, Immortality unless you get your head cut off. Not the making of an MMO. One on one combat eliminating the loser would make for an interesting online competition but without permadeath there would be no point.

Agreed. Highlander Source was worse than Highlander 2.

They need fresh blood, a new character, preferably not a Scot or even a Mcleod.

This game would be hilarious if you spent 5 years killing snakes and crap leveling up and grinding for new gear getting ready for that honor du-el.....and then if you die you have to re-roll and start over. :laugh:

You could make it an MMO where you respawn with 50% of your stats and you gain power by beheading others. However, power gained would be relative to difficulty of immortal killed (to avoid powerful immortals constantly killing the low level ones all day long).
