Highest Voltage that can be used for a C1...

I have a P4 2.8. Standard Voltage is 1.525. I was able to get 2.93 GHz with a 140FSB at stock voltage. But any higher on the FSB, like 144 would be unstable. 145 would Blue Screen. So what would be the highest voltage I can go safely. Keep in mind that I will only up the voltage in small increments. I have heard that 1.7 volts is the max. But is that for a B0 or a C1 or both.

Thanks,

It's a personal choice, I don't like going above 1.65 but 1.70 is used by many. Keep in mind, you have to watch your temperature too.

Your PC2100 may be holding you back. It's kind of hard to say. 144 FSB = PC2300. I would think it should be ok unless it is really crummy ram. Go to 1.6 Vcore and see what happens.

Ok, thanks everyone, I will try it tonight when I get home.
I will see about getting faster ram like PC3200 or at least PC2700.

Hang on a bit before you buy ram. Prices are falling quick. I'd say in another couple of weeks or so, you should be able to get some nice PC3200 pretty cheap. Then you could use the 4:5 mem ratio on that setup. That will give you a pretty decent speed boost.

I could not agree more! Many P4s that have even run super cooled have died from the voltage. They ran nice and cool but the voltage got em. Too much juice destroys the interconnects. I personally killed a 2.66 running it at 1.7 actual and that had a Swiftech MCX4000 Heatsink w/ Sunon 52.6CFM fan. Never got over 52c doing anything.
