Highest temp you'd run an X1800XL?

I hate the leaf blower on my X1800XL (really an MSI X1800XT) but want it quiet. What's the highest temp you'd feel comfortable running your card at? Right now I have it slightly underclocked with the fan at 25% and it's running at 83ºC, which I'm thinking is a little high. Do you guys agree?

Underclocked?!

83C is a bit high, but you have the fan throttled so...

When you are gaming how high can the fan go? Surely it can't overpower headphones? If it does, then maybe you need to break down and get an aftermarket cooler.

Mine ran at 70-75C playing a game, I never considered the fan loud though. Infact if you have decent air cooling the 1800XL sounds decent.

my card has gotten up to 96 around there when playing fear, and the cooler wasn't loud its just that the plastic sound sticks out and is really annoying.
since then i got a artic cooling X2. it runs nice and quiet now. max louad temps of 60
