What would you guys say was the highest safe reasonable temp for a Evga 7800GT? Under full load, of course.

I wouldn't be worried until about 85°C, although it probably won't ever get that hot. They run cooler than the 6800 series.

Ok, i was getting nerbous around 50, i had it at 470/1100 as i got it at 445/1070. Time to pump it higher. I thought idling at 37-38 was a bad thing... Gotta love the Evga warrenty.

I have my CO clocked at 495/1200 and it gets up to 70°C. I was a bit worried about that and was considering getting an 80mm fan for the GPU vent duct in my Antec P180. Glad to hear at least one memeber say that temp is no cause for concern though.

Anything below 1E7K should be fine. =)

Edit: Your temps are fine kellehair.

An NV Silencer 5 cooler reduces load temps at least five degrees over stock cooling solution.

Not that you'll clock much higher due to core limitations, but you'll run cooler... :)

how are you checking full load? if you alt-tab out of a game the temp of the 7800gt will drop by 10c immediately, before you can even open up the driver control panel to check the it. i thought i was getting 60c under load by alt-tabbing, until i let rivatuner monitor w/graph run in the background wihile playing and the temps we hitting 73c, and the instant ii hit alt-tab the graph shows a 10c drop. get something like rthdribl, jack up the settings and watch the temp in the driver, or use riva tuner monitor.

Some programs track the temp constantly. ;)

My eVGA 7800GT (stock) didn't get higher than 56C under full load. 43C idle. Both lower than my Leadtek 6800NU (stock).
