ok, so i just got a ps2 and was hoping to hook it up to my spare 17" monitor. i was wondering how i would go about doing this in order to get the highest possible quality (480p). would games that only support 480i work if i get this:
http://www.vdigi.com

if not, is there any way to up convert to 480p and still use VGA connection?

the only games i have are:
gta3
gta:vc
rise to honor
madden2k5
gta:sa (in a week or so)

thanks.

Um, I'm not sure what it is you've linked to.

See if you can find just a standard VGA adapter. It should plug into the A/V out of the PS2 and have a VGA connector on the other end. Costs usually from $20-70 I believe. Something like one of theseText

Highest possible quality would take a little more, but a VGA adapter is a better price for quality (it should look good on your monitor).

You might consider the Viewsonic Nextvision N6, its a video processor that will actually change the output to 1280x1024 or one of several other resolutions. It costs about $175 though.

dude for 200 bucks why not buy a TV? Is this a good monitor or an LCD? If not get a toshiba 20AF44, or some equivalent.

but this thing will up convert the 480i games... if i get that toshiba tv, the 480i games would still be displayed as 480i. plus i have a spare 17" monitor sitting here, so why not put it to good use?

there won't be a difference due to the 640 resolution, but personally it seems like a waste of money either way-adapter or new TV. So I say GL:)
