Title says it all. Anyone know what it is? I am thinking of picking up an old one for a linux box.

the multiplier setting is irrelevant as intel cpus are multiplier locked at the core & will disregard any multiplier settings in bios or m/board jumpers

I realize that Intel CPUs are multiplier locked, I am asking if anyone knows the highest multiplier the Abit BX6 rev will recognize. I dont have one handy, and I am thinking of picking up one.

I believe the BIOS actually recognizes a PIII 800E or EB . . . maybe 850. When I O/C'd my 600e to 133FSB it correctly reported 800EB . . .

No worries, it will support any regular PIII or Celeron . . . and the Tualatin Celeron with a PowerLeap adapter.

As they say, ignore the reading in the BIOS - the multiplier is LOCKED - it will run correctly.

that answered my question. i was thinking of getting a Intel P3 700 and O/Cing to 933, but I wasn't sure if the motherboard would recognize a processor past 700.

The highest mulitplier is 9x with the latest bios update. I had a celeron 600 @ 927 (103x9) perfectly stable.

9x with the QR BIOS....I am running a Tualatin 1.1A at 11x though (1.42Ghz).

The Slot 1 1000E was an easy (but expensive) drop in, I originally used a 300a and then a 850E.

I was able to run a 1.1Ghz Celeron (11X100) just fine on the Abit BX6 rev2 using the Powerleap, when it boot the mobo would say that the was chip at a diffen speed but after windows loaded everthing sayed it was at 1.1Ghz Celeron run fine :)
