Just was thinking of how future proof are mothers boards of today????? I mean, i have a 8RDA+ with 2100+ on it
I have it at 12x166 right now and am uping it to 2700+ speeds tonight. In a year or by december when faster cpus come out, will this thing handle a cpu over 3.0ghz or around that

It will only handle Socket A cpus which include Paliminos, Thoroughbreds and Bartons.

Forget using an Opteron.

Does it really matter that much? On average I've been changing mobo's every 3 months. 🙂
They are just as "disposable" as any other computer part.

I believe they will take the Barton 400 so for the forseeable or rumoured future, it will handle a 3200+.

I personally havent heard anything about an AMD chip based upon Socket A that is faster than a 3200+ at time of posting.

It's not much of a budget, usually I can Ebay the old one for about as much as the new one cost!
