Higher RAM latency more expensive?

Hello,
I'll get to the point.

Just wondering why a "Transcend 1gb ddr400" Ram with latency 3-3-3,

is LESS expensive then the "Geil 1gb ddr400" with a latency of 3 8-4-4?
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-144-321&depa=1

Is it the name brand?

3-4-4, yuck, just get some value mem 2.5-3-3.

I was planning on getting 2x 1gb sticks since that's the max potential my motherboard can support.
But I'm starting to think its 2gigs is unecessary.
