It seems like everyone and there mother is coming out with 11 and 13 inch ultrabooks with 1080p resolution. From what I understand Metro scaling is planned out:

I know at least myself will be using a fair number of non Metro apps on the normal windows 7 style desktop, is there any new scaling options for normal windows apps? My eyes aren't fantastic, so the idea of 11" 1080p without any real scaling seems like something I would have to think about.

There is the current standard of changing the windows dpi, but it often doesn't change anything other than rudimentary elements...

At this point i'm assuming the answer is, it will work the way it has except in Metro apps, if it isn't a Metro app it's gonna be teeny.

Old apps compatibility will never be perfect. you just need to switch to newer apps, or manually toggle dpi when needed. 😱

I'm sure all the major apps like chrome will have plenty of support after release, so everything will work just fine.

That said, Firefox is better, way more apps, that work!
