higher mzh ram does not work?

i think my motherboard only supports sdram at 100 mhz. went i inserated a stick of ram at 133 mhz, my computer monitor will not run.

is there Any sollution to fix this prob?

IIRC, newer PC133 ram isn't compatible with PC100.

Might try upgrading your bios though.

EDIT: Make, model and SN# of the PC133? And what motherboard?

What size memory sticks are we talking here? you could be limited on size...otherwise pc133 is or should be fine, backwards compatable.

its a 256 sdram stick at 133 mhz

i current have 2 other ram sticks 64 sdram 100 mhz and a 32 sdram at 100 mhz...


maxium memory is 256 mb

You're going to have to be more specific. Is it Kingston, Crucial, PNY etc? What's the SN# on the box?

id say try it by itself, if it don't work, then its not possible and ya gotta get different ram.

grr, btw, anything i can do to fix this prob? like is there a way to raise the mhz so my computer recognizes it?

The issue isn't the speed of the RAM, but the fact that the newer PC133 is high density RAM. Some motherboards can't address that much on one chip. If you can find low density RAM at PC133 speeds it will work, but perhaps your best bet is to find some PC100 on Ebay.

BTW I don't mean high density as more MB per stick, but more MB per chip on the stick. Low density RAM is a lot more expensive to buy since there is at least double number of memory chips on the RAM stick.
