When I play back DVDs on my laptop on both windows 2000 and windows 98se, I notice there is a descrepancy in speed, I use 100% CPU utilization when playing back dvds with no idle time while in windows 98se (the native OS) I can use between 5% and 75% CPU but not much more and I'm not sure why. The only thing I can think of is the fact that Motion Jpeg software isn't available, therefore can't be downloaded for windows 2000 while it's available for 98se.. The thing is though, it wouldn't appear there is hardware decoding goin on because it's a software decoder therefore using the CPU and I guess it can't explain the lower CPU utilization. It doesn't matter what player I use either, same amount of CPU is used...
