High temps on Corsair H60

Hi all,

I just purchased and installed a corsair h60 liquid cooler.At idle I'm getting temperatures around 48 c.Previously my stock cooler shows same 48 c.There is no difference.
I'm using Asus Sabertooth X58 mobo.I have disabled the Q-fan.

Pump speed is 4440 rpm
Fan speed is 1940 rpm

I have connected the pump(3 pin) to Cpu fan header and the 120mm fan to one of the chassis power(4 pin).


Is the above readings and the setup are normal? or is there anything i need to do in addition?

What are your load temps? That is more important. Have you Oced?

What is room temp? I have the H60 on mine and its currently at 30 degrees idle. My room is about 68 degrees. Load is about 55 degrees. And this is with a 800 RPM fan on the H60.

That will be pretty warm, even for an H60. See what it reaches under load, that's where your potential damages will come from.

Idle temps on that type of cooler can actually be higher than a HS/Fan cooler. It is Load Temps that should be lower.

Could be, be depends on Cpu and/or Overclock.

I had the same issue with my h70. I was gonna give up so i went to take it out and decided to check everything when I was in there. Turns out that I hadn't tightened the screws down enough. Weird though because when I first installed it, I remember not being able to turn any of the screws further. Temps at load went from 68 degrees down to 53.

Waterblocks depend heavily on good contact for performance. They are designed to apply the exactly right force to bow the board in a particular way to match the slope of the block. If you don't get the force right you'll get bad performance and some blocks make it easier than others to get it right.

My H50 sits around 32C idle, <60C under load. I would suspect that the CPU block is not making good contact with the CPU package. So tighten screws down and see if that helps, if not then remove block and reapply thermal paste. Just put a vertical line of paste down the middle of the CPU package.
